abigail*ryan for Jo Malone London...

We are so proud and excited to announce our collaboration with Jo Malone London, and their Style Editor (and super stylist!) Charlotte Stockdale...

We were approached by the brand last year, and have been working feverishly on this project ever since. The fruits of all our labours landed exclusively in Selfridges London & Manchester Exchange, in a specially curated boutique called 'Charlotte's Corner', on Monday.

When Charlotte Stockdale, Jo Malone™ Style Editor revealed the concept for this project, giving a cool and very limited edition make-over to Red Roses, one of Jo Malone's most iconic fragrances, she said

“I wanted to bring a little jolt of fun to the iconic packaging. I love neon, especially when it's set against a neutral background. It’s fashion graffiti; playful, cool and alive.”

We love that she chose to work with us, as such a young brand, and have Abigail create a special red roses illustration, enhancing it digitally and screen printing it in classic Jo Malone black and white, with striking neon pink cord hand couched on to each item... we thought you would enjoy a little glimpse in to the making process, which was a mammoth job, but we are thrilled with the results. It was a real labour of love.

We produced a Scented Red Roses Scatter Cushion, a Scented Red Roses Sachet and a Cologne Pouch for 30ml bottles of Jo Malone Cologne. You can purchase them online, here, as well as in Jo Malone Selfridges.

We fly to London tomorrow to visit the corner, so we will report back from that.

A huge thank you to the wonderful Jo Malone London team, and Charlotte, from both of us at abigail*ryan - this has been a dream project, and we're so happy with the results and the fantastically positive reaction they're receiving. Charlotte's limited Edition Drip Bottle has already sold out (there were only 300!) and the cushion has already made it in to gorgeous magazines such as Elle Decoration and Livingetc, to name a few...

We hope you like this as much as we do!
NEON FOREVER!

Belfast Le Creuset...

We're big Le Creuset fans... and have more than a little obsession with their gorgeous colourful enamel ware. You know we love colour, and food, so colour you can cook in? Well, that's just right up our street!

The Belfast Le Creuset store, run by the lovely Kirsty, is holding a Wedding Event weekend and had a few brands and suppliers from around Belfast display their wares... Jenny Bristow, local Irish TV cooking personality was in store creating delicious food in the kitchen, and abigail*ryan tea-towels were alongside the rainbow pans, matching perfectly. It's as if our colours were planned to match... I promise they weren't, but what a happy coincidence! Don't they look gorgeous together? So! Get on down this weekend and pop in to the store... Such lovely goodness to ogle, as always.

Colour...

Picking Pantone numbers for our wallpapers - so hard, so many amazing colour combinations to be had! We have two out of four done, and they're looking incredible, if I do say so myself...

Been pretty sick since Friday, so it's been nice looking at something so cheerful today.

Hope everyone has had a lovely w/end, and Happy St. Patrick's Day! ;)

Wallpaper fun...

We've been busy working on lots of things, and one of those projects has been preparing artwork and designs for our new line of wallpaper, which should debut around May!

This morning we received some sample proofs from our printers, which showed all sorts of fascinating bits of the process - full scale, half scale to show the working repeat, and trim options to make it easier for our lovely customers to hang. We are SO excited.

We have the most dreamy colour palettes to apply to these, so we can't wait to see them in full colour. We will launch them at Pulse this May.

We have been able to work on this new line with support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, so it's been a really fun project.

More sneak peeks from the workshop, soon. We are designing new textile products to go alongside these new prints - rose and cosmos - so there will be a LOT to share soon. You can see why we've been a bit quiet!

Hello 2013...

Yes, we're fairly late with this, I know! Cripes, where has the first five weeks of this year gone?

I checked the blog yesterday and was shocked to see I had to posted in this space since Xmas. I think that serves to show just how busy we have been... Same theme as usual, different year!

We're working on two huge projects at the moment - one is super secret brand collaboration, though soon to be revealed, and we've had two lovely interns in working with us that, which has been brilliant... And the second is a whole new range of products, including wallpaper, which will be launching shortly. We have been supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland to make this collection, so it's very exciting indeed. I have been drawing like a mad woman during daylight hours, and then working in to the small wee hours of the night hand sewing... Yes, I am almost blind! ;)

I can't quite recall what it's like to not be working 12+ hour days, but it's a hugely exciting time for abigail*ryan, so we're grinning and bearing it!

In other nice news, our Hydrangea tea towel in avocado was in The Sunday Times a few weekends ago! Very lovely indeed.

Above, you'll find a little selection of shots from life and work over the last few weeks. The new face is our intern, Grace! Sleep deprivation aside, life is very exciting right now, so we are looking forward to revealing everything over the coming weeks...

Happy 2013 everyone!

Christmas Cheer...

Wanted to stop by and share some scenes from our Christmas Day... spoilt rotten with amazing presents all round, delicious food and drink, and friends and family in our lives.

We are insanely happy, and blessed, with all the good things, people and opportunities in our lives - 2012 has been an amazing year, from our engagement last Christmas Day to our Wedding in September, we have had a whirlwind 365 days! Looking forward to another day off tomorrow with yummy xmas leftovers, then getting back to it, to work hard and make 2013 even better, if that's possible...

Hope you all had an amazing, AMAZING, Christmas Day, wherever you are, and thank you so much for your support throughout 2012.

Happy Holidays from a*r HQ!! xo

p.s. Ryan is asking me 'WHY' I always want to take our photo ;))) Can you tell?

Intern Position OPEN...

Starting from the beginning of January 2013, abigail*ryan, are looking for an exceptionally lovely individual to fill an Intern position...

We are flexible, but are looking to fill anything between full time hours for a couple of weeks, to several days a week (even evenings). We have a large job on, and need all hands on deck.

Experience working with fabric and textiles, and basic sewing machine skills preferred/minimum requirements. Background training/interest in the design industry helpful.

The person we are looking for will be punctual, hard-working, happy to muck in with all aspects of running a homewares business and manufacturing product, and be nice to spend time with!

This is an unpaid position, but we will pay expenses, give you lunch + tea/coffee, let you play with our little dog, which is awesome stress relief, AND be able to offer you valuable insight in to running a successful design business.

Is this YOU?

Send us an email to abigailryandesigns@gmail.com and introduce yourself, along with a copy of your CV.

We are based in Greenisland, Carrickfergus.

Look forward to hearing from you!
