There's something so lovely about Summer, when the days get long, hot and hazy and we all pile outdoors to light BBQ's,  to eat salads, or sandwiches, catching any hint of rays we can during the work week. Lounging in the sun all weekend when we can. Long may it last!

At chez a*r, we love setting the table outside beautifully... our coloured floral linens, brightly coloured glasses and stripey straws all layered together, a bunch of country-style flowers - making that little bit of effort - and taking our meal outside. Have a riot of colour!

Today is the Summer Solstice, the longest day of Summer, and to mark the day, we prepared a feast. Roast chicken, charcoal grilled summer vegetables on the barbecue and juicy raspberries. A celebration it was!

Tea-towel Sets...

We meant to post this a few weeks ago when these launched in the shop, but we have been kept so busy with holiday season busybusy that we haven't had a chance until now...

...when we launched in 2009, our Full Shebang sets of tea-towels were one of our best sellers, so when we changed over the designs last year, we always intended to put together another set! Well, you know how it is, months disappear in a haze and here we are, a year later and we're just getting round to it. We tell ourselves it's not just us who are so disorganised... it helps us sleep better at night... hehe ;))

ANYWAY, we scoured for weeks to find the perfect boxes and designed beautiful new labels to make sure this would be a worthy gift set anyone would love to receive, and we are so happy with how they turned out!!

They have been selling like hot-cakes over the last few weeks, and I have to say, I can see why - I think I would love to get one of these under the tree, too...

Each set comprises our full collection of eight tea-towels: Dahlia in Mango and Raspberry, Hydrangea in Duck-Egg and Avocado, Rhododendron in (our new, gorgeous bright!) Fuchsia and Aubergine and Agapanthus in Heather & Cornflower... our new tea-towels are now complete with a fab hanging loop, which is lovely, and they are eco-friendly printed with water-based inks on unbleached cotton, hemmed on all four sides. You can wash these at up to 50 degrees C, too! Practical and pretty... what more could you ask for!

Breast Cancer Care Tea-towel...THINK PINK!

Hello everyone - we are very pleased to annouce that today we are launching a limited edition run of 200 pale pink tea-towels to raise £1000 for Breast Cancer Care!

Our best selling Rhododendron design has been re-worked in this very lovely pale pink and we will donate £5.00 from the sale of each tea-towel to the charity in the hope our funds can make a very big difference.

Every tea-towel is hand screen printed on eco-friendly unbleached cotton, with water-based inks. Every one will come beautifully tissue gift wrapped and protected in a plastic envelope adorned with our signature labelling - this one specifically produced for this occasion!

New Gift Sets...

Shooting photo's for our 'soon to be in store' GIFT SETS! :)

...all eight of our tea-towels will soon be offered up in a gorgeous set, perfect for giving (to yourself, or others!!).

These are our 'new and improved' tea-towels, complete with hanging loop and can be washed up to 50 degrees now (rather than previous 40) and a new colour of pink for our Rhododendron and our Mango Dahlia is a little different, too!! We love how they all work together and hope you think they're lovely as well...

Swatch!

Things are pretty busy here at abigail*ryan HQ - I am still finishing off making some jewellery at the bench before we embark on a patchworking marathon next week, but we've also been stuck in colour-sampling/matching heaven/hell!

...LOVE when it goes right, LOATHE when it's not quite right.

We're getting there, though, and all our tea-towels will shortly be back in stock.

Tomorrow will be all about finishing orders for me, and then I think I shall let Mr. Bell take me to the cinema on Sunday evening if there is something good on... any suggestions??

For Japan...

Hi everyone,

Some of you may have seen in our last post that we have decided to donate 50% of the retail price from each sale of our Hyndragea tea-towel (in duck egg) to the Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal...

Hydrangea flowers symbolise 'Heartfelt Emotions', which is why, out of all of our designs, we felt this most appropriate - as I think this is how most of the world is feeling right now as we watch events in Japan unfold.

This is today's pile of orders, all parcelled up for posting.

Please help in any way you can. Every donation helps and we would like to raise as much as we can with the power of flowers!

So BUSY!

We're doing some exciting freelance work for a super secret client who is launching a new range - brand identity and graphic design is all done after lots of hard work and now I am doing my favourite part... photography and styling!

We're super busy and juggling so many balls just now with work! Ryan is feeling a bit better (thank you so much for all your kind notes) but still not doing cartwheels just yet...

So SAD!

The disaster in Japan has been weighing heavily on our minds. We have decided to donate 50% of all proceeds from the sale of our Hyndrangea tea-towel in duck-egg...

Just before the holidays, we ordered some new tissue for our abigail*ryan packaging... and we're loving the soft grey and pistachio together, combined with our a*r stickers to seal!

We are delighted to announce that our full range of abigail*ryan tea-towels are now winging their way to the States to be in lovely company amongst all the other goodies you can choose from!

If we ever make it to LA in person we will certainly be popping in to sample some of the gorgeous treats on offer - but, in the meantime, it's really VERY lovely to know our linens will be making the trip for us, and finding their way to lots of new homes...

Hi everyone - we're back from our holiday break and ready to face 2011, full of new ideas and good things for abigail*ryan... Happy New Year to all!

First off, we're OVER THE TOP happy to announce that our abigail*ryan tea-towels will shortly be arriving with Terrain - a brand new Stockist for us!

Terrain has long been a source of inspirational beauty for me, when longingly searching through the loveliness to be had online. I have yet to visit in person, but if it's anything like it's sister company, Anthropologie, I'll be in heaven!...

We will be in excellent company, as I pretty much adore everything they stock - check out their garden, and home section... wow, right?!

New Tea-towels...

At LAST, our brand new tea-towel designs, which we had been working on so hard, have finally arrived back from the printers and we are *delighted* with them!

I managed to find a few hours of sunshine yesterday, helped with the external natural reflector that snow is (!), to shoot them all and they are now full live and online, in the SHOP.

We have three new designs, in two colourways each... Dahlia in Raspberry and Mango, Agapanthus in Heather and Cornflower, and Hydrangea in Avocado and Duck Egg Blue!

We hope you will love them as much as we do, and will enjoy their new introductory price of £9.50, which, we think, makes them the perfect gift for Christmas... especially if you are going to parties, as they make idea host/hostess pressies!!

Off to Print!

We're so excited... and just had to share!

After MUCH wrangling and issues with our printing this year (gah!), we have finally sent three new designs off to print (and are re-printing Rhododendron)... and they will hopefully be arriving with us in a few weeks time...

Here is a small preview of one of the new designs - Dahlia, which will be coming in this deep delicious Raspberry, as well as in a hot coral orange ... and will be centered on a lovely unbleached cotton tea towel!

Sunday...

Before we get stuck in today (drawing and digitising!) - we had a very long lazy lie in...and a nice leisurely breakfast.

The sun is streaming in the window at chez abigail*ryan... a turquoise sycamore teatowel catches our crumbs and my brand new anthropologie butterdish is christened... a pretty nice start to our day...

Hello there!

Just stopping in to share some previews of some of the drawings I have been feverishly working on for the past wee while... these are in turn currently being worked on by Ryan to turn them into artwork for our brand new tea-towel designs which we will be launching ahead of Christmas!

Above are clusters of Hydrangea buds and opening blooms, and budding Agapanthus... Dahlia is already finished, and we're so excited...can't wait to see them printed... :)

As you can see, the sun was streaming through the window this morning after pouring rain...but I squinted through it and have now totally finished Hydrangea!
